Is Gratitude not worth it anymore?
... and the many limits we need to unlearn to become abundant.
Happy new week, team!
As we begin another beautiful week, I can’t help but think how many times we can just start over.
How many times are we offered the chance for the same ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ kind of situation? It literally can happen EVERY DAY.
But then, I ask myself: why aren’t we taking all these chances offered to us to change, evolve, and start over whenever needed?
We are funny creatures, and most of the time we just get caught up in our thoughts and feelings without realizing that Simplicity is the mother of all solutions.
So, after a few coaching sessions with different clients who had quite the same theme attached to the discussion, I realized that what we need is not another quick fix/time management tool or course, but a consistent practice of gratitude.
When you’re in a state of gratitude you do tend to be more aligned with what is possible rather than what is getting in the way.
So, what is stopping us from shifting into being more grateful for the beauty and blessings that surround us?
Well, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it’s actually the societal training of being a consumer.
As consumers, we are always chasing the next thing, focusing on reaching the next level, valuing other’s lifestyles rather than our own.
As consumers, we fall into the trap of always wanting more and not being present, because the future needs to be manifested, so let’s look more at it.
As consumers, we worship the next fix, next trend, next healing modality, next course that promises to fix it all for us and ‘get us that 6 figure income lifestyle’ we so desperately think we need.
As consumers, we are taught to unlearn the blessing of freedom of time, health and good community, to focus on competition, lack and material possessions.
Now, I’m not saying don’t consume. But consuming without break, versus consuming with intention is a whole different story.
I too love - and I mean LOVE - consuming. Be it social media content that makes me smile or think too much about one topic, clothes that make me happy when I wear them, or food that brings me joy, I consume just as much as the next person.
But, as someone who had to heal from consumer mental burnout a few years ago, I can tell you - hand on heart - if you don’t create good healthy habits and boundaries around this, it will eat you alive.
The system is not meant to let you be free and think for yourself. It’s meant to keep you as a number on a spreadsheet checklist.
So, what do we do about it?
We learn to set boundaries.
We build better habits around what and how we consume.
We grow closer to communities rather than trends.
And we learn gratitude for what is, rather than need and longing for what could be.
That’s why, last week I spruced up a 1 Year of Gratitude Journal to help you build a new healthy habit.
And no, it’s not for sale, it’s actually my gift to you because the gift of a healthy habit is far better than any teachings I could offer right now.
So, please enjoy the blessings of +50 pages of journaling prompts, insights and perks that I put together in that guide.
And I’ll leave you with this: gratitude is simple. It brings back a connection to our heart, rather than our mind. It aligns our energy to abundance and blessings, rather than lack and loss.
You might not think of it as much of a big deal - it’s just being grateful, anyway ;) - but a steady practice of gratitude can move mountains.
I’ll talk more about this in a future article.
Until then - be blessed!
Love this, Ana!
I have strong feelings about the consumer system. With billions being spent to keep us hooked on the thing(s) we are consuming, it can sometimes feel hopeless to break free.
Thank you for pointing out that gratitude is the key and thank you for the gratitude journal!
